Kilborn Consulting has staff that are experienced in detailed signalling design for both major and minor railway projects to (or equivalent to) GRIP Stage 5.
By having an in depth knowledge of how signalling systems work, down to level of the individual components and wiring, and understanding how they interact, influence and are influenced by other parts of the system, we are able to develop complete and robust engineering designs.
We can work within tight costs and timescales and offer solutions to resourcing needs to produce full designs to which a project can be built.
- A full renewal of the signalling control systems and lineside equipment, with a new relay based interlocking being provided together with new lineside signals, track circuits, point machines and location cases at Ferrybridge Power Station. The design details included new and altered signalling circuits and location drawings and revisions to Signalling Plan, Location Area Plan, Level Crossing Ground Plan, etc. The project coverd the design process from development of the Design Specification through to issue of the designs for installation, testing and commissioning, as well as completion of the As-Built records.
- Production of Red/Green design drawings of Signalling Scheme Plans, Location Area Plans and Location Case drawings in accordance with the Docklands Light Railway extension of their Maintenance Shed at Beckton, East London. This included redrawing of existing Record Drawings which only existed in paper/pdf/jpeg format, revisions of these to suit Correlation Surveys undertaken, Stageworks proposals designed in order to allow continued operation of the Shed and the Final Design and As-Built drawings production.
- Another previous example was our revising and updating of the Thameslink OLE Bonding designs to take account of station platform extensions. Site surveys were carried out as part of the works and further to this, Correlated Plans were produced, followed by Detailed design carried out in order to bring the Bonding arrangements up to the required standards, and upon works completion, As-Built records were produced with subsequent Return of Records.
